Exceeding Expectations One Patient at a Time

I am trained to work with young children though adulthood treating issues such as anxiety and depression. In addition I provide parent coaching to support parents in their developing strong relationships with their children. I am also trained to treat women struggling with pre and post natal challenges. I utilize an integrated approach using evidence based treatments that include CBT (cognitive-behavioral therapy), mindfulness, exposure treatment, and parent management training. I also believe in the validity of psychodynamic therapy and building a strong therapeutic alliance with my clients.

I also work as a school psychologist at a private school in NYC. I understand the inner workings of school-related stress and can be particularly helpful in parenting strategies and developing coping skills for managing school-related anxiety and social dynamics.

In addition to my clinical work, I serve on the Medical Advisory Board at Lauren Bongiorno's Health Coaching for People with Diabetes. As a type 1 diabetic myself, I understand the unique challenges of living with chronic illness and value the commitment I have made in supporting those struggling with their mental health.

PARENT COACHING

Looking for more support and development of effective parenting strategies? Contact me to learn and implement successful ways to manage challenging behaviors in your child. Research shows that parent work is equally as effective as working directly with a child. I am trained in Dr. Becky Kennedy's Wire for Resilience Method and work with parents to capitalize on attachment and connection while implementing concrete strategies to improve challenging behaviors and family dynamics. I will be your coach so that you can be your best self for your children.

PERINATAL THERAPY

The road to becoming a parent can be unpredictable and stressful.  I approach my clients with compassion, understanding, and support while navigating this journey. I am trained through PSI (Postpartum International) to treat women with perinatal mood disorders. Whether you are going through infertility, grieving a loss, or experiencing a postpartum disorder, I can provide evidence-based treatment during this stressful time.

"Dr Dumont helped my wife and I through challenging times with our daughter who suffers from sensory processing disorder. She is positive, encouraging and consistently left us with the tools and confidence to handle any situation at home. Through our sessions, we found ways to keep ourselves better regulated so we could become the sturdy leaders our children needed, not just in times of distress but all the time!"

FAQ

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

Contact me using the information below and let me know why you are seeking therapy. We can discuss scheduling and fees and if we determine you would like to proceed, we will set up an initial intake appointment. Before your first session, I will send you some consent forms and questionnaires to fill out online.

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?

I do not accept insurance and am considered an out of network provider. All fees are due in full at the time of our sessions. I provide receipts and diagnosis codes for you to submit to your insurance company for partial reimbursement. Before meeting, you will want to call your provider and inquire about your policy on out of network behavioral health care.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE INTAKE SESSION AND AFTER?

The first 1-2 sessions are spent gathering information and determining if we are a good fit for treatment together. After the first two sessions, I will provide my clinical impressions and together, we will decide on a treatment plan. If you choose not to continue with me, I will gladly assist you in finding another therapist who might suit your needs better. If you do choose to continue, we will meet weekly at a designated time for 45 minutes. In some cases, you may need to meet biweekly or for longer. I will be flexible and accommodate on a case by case basis.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

Any cancellation or rescheduling of our session must be made at least 24 hours in advance of our appointment time. There is a full fee charge for anything canceled after that time. Accommodations will be made for emergencies on a case by case basis.
